Now that wouldn't seem like the way to *really* help, would it? That would

be helping him to die in comfort...that's not helping him to LIVE and raising

funds to buy a bed doesn't sound like " struggling for survival " . I betcha

all of us here could come up with a better idea.

Wonder why the article does not mention weight loss surgery as

a way to help this man, instead of just a heavy-duty bed and another

diet? The last diet resulted in him gaining 200 lbs.!

One step at a time. Right now he needs a place to lay without

getting bedsores. The article mentions he is working on losing

weight too.

I do hope he can have weight loss surgery as I feel it's the

only thing that will truly save him. But for now he needs to

be able to sit comfortably and that isn't going to happen until

he gets a bed or loses about 500 pounds. It seems getting the

bed can happen sooner, so I think that is the first step.

Maybe he is too high of a risk for surgery just yet. Maybe he doesn't

have insurance that will pay for it. At 1000 pounds he's got to be on

disability or welfare. Diet won't do it although, but it may put him

in acceptable risk for surgery at a later date.

I hope he gets the bed. But maybe we can help him by making him some

clothes that will fit him. Or sending cards and letters to the

hospital he's at. Kindness is a powerful tool, so is hope.
