"I have a tentative surgery date of June 15th with Dr. Ren. Anybody else out there had their surgery with Dr. Ren?"

I had surgery with Dr Ren on 3/29/01 and am doing wonderfully. I left the hospital on day 3. Have had no problems. Take Dairy care before eating dairy, use lactaid milk, take 2 ADEK's per day, 2 multi-vitamins, 3 caltrate calcium chewables, 2 devrom with each meal (that controls odors in your gas and stools) my prilosec and my thyroid medicine. I no longer take any blood pressure medicine. I started back to work on the 16th (18 days post op) and have played golf since the surgery. I was very tired after the first game and hit the bed at 9:30 but I was up at 6:30 am and ready to go. I am now playing 18 holes 3-4 times a week. I feel great. I am eating solids now. (Mushy foods for the first 3 weeks) I know that not everyone bounces back this well after surgery and I was in surgery for 8 hours. I had adhesions wrapped completely around my duodenum and Dr Ren took 1.5 hours to cut them down and successfully completed my surgery 100% lap. Even though I had had open gallbladder surgery in 89 and have a 14 inches scar from it. And my BMI was 55. I was in step down (one step down from ICU) overnight because I was in surgery so long but as soon as they put me in another room I was up and walking and got out of the hospital on the 3rd day. I live in Marquette, Michigan so I stayed in NYC for 10 days after surgery, got to meet a lot of my friends on the list and took a cruise of Manhattan. Once I started taking my multi-vitamins (instead of the chewables) I started having a hunger??/pain?? in my stomach. I remembered that I got very sick when I was pregnant taking pre-natal vitamins. So, I take a Pepsid Complete after 2 of my meals and it seems to help the feeling go away quicker. If this continues much longer I am going back to taking the chewables for awhile and see if that makes a difference. I am eating just about anything I want but am staying away from beef as I am not able to digest it properly just yet.

Dr Ren and Gio are great about answering any questions you might have. She will not turn away from ANY question. So, if you receive any emails that trouble you, take it directly to her and I am sure you will receive a dilly of one. Never be afraid of saying anything to her.

Dr. Ren ROCKS,
