Thank you for all the information and recommendations. I finally

decided to get on with it and made my consultation appointment with

Dr. Elariny for June 8! The moment I did it I felt excited, then

almost immediately I started with the jitters. I make the airline

reservations tomorrow and, thankfully, have a dear friend who has

offered to go up with me and also during the surgery. Friends like

that are hard to find. I am debating on getting two seats as it has

been about 5 years and 125 lbs since I road in coach. I am using

American Ailines for the extra leg room. I wish I could afford first

class just for the seats, but no way! Any tips will be most

appreciated!

I will post more and might go ahead and start a web page like so many

others have. It has helped me so much that maybe I can do the same.

I will be around for my own " moral support " you can be sure! Thanks

again - have to get some sleep.

PS: If anyone has come from out-of-state for surgery with Dr.

Elariny, let me know if you have a recommendation on a place to stay

for that week. I realize I will be in the hospital most of it, but

my friend will need to be close. Thanks.

Well I didn't have surgery yet, but the Homestead Village Studios are about 1/2 mile from the hospital

Others got a much better rate than I did, but tell them that you are having surgery and maybe they will give you a break.

I also got a list of other hotels in the area from the guest relations dept in the hospital.

Kathy....I think I might have an idea as to why the person didn't give you a good rate.....when I was checking out, I was told that there was a "new girl" that really didn't know what she was doing that checked me in.....she made a mistake on my paperwork and was really flustered because I paid in cash.....So maybe you talked to her when you made res. I would maybe cancel yours and try again another night?? It's worth a shot.....I got my King Deluxe room for $79 a night.

I may change to the Marriott becuase Homestead is charging me too much.
