I went through the EXACT same thing with actually going to my first consult

and then having to pay for it myself because I didn't know that I HAD to

have the consult approval. Like you, I don't have THAT many problems, but

what I did give to my new PCP was my co-morbids and my diet history and made

sure she sent this with my referral.

the deal

Okay this is the deal! I had a consult with Dr. E on May 14th, but I had to

cancel because I did not have authorization to go to it from my insurance,

so I am in the midst of having my pcp call my insurance and get approval for

me to go to a consult (okay) then the insurance company tells my pcp that

they will need a letter of necessity and they will have to decide if this is

something that I need done. Well, I have not had complications with my

health (Thank God!) that is noted in my health records nor have I ever been

tested for anything, so basically all my pcp can possibly write are the

basics, missed periods, weight (of course) swelling, varacose veins, aches

and pains....bla bla bla....

My question is this> Is this the right direction and what comes next?????

Anyone! What is the best things to have the pcp put in the letter?

in Pa.
