Well, I have not had complications with my

health (Thank God!) that is noted in my health records nor have I ever been

tested for anything, so basically all my pcp can possibly write are the

basics, missed periods, weight (of course) swelling, varacose veins, aches

and pains....bla bla bla....

My question is this> Is this the right direction and what comes next?????

Anyone! What is the best things to have the pcp put in the letter?

You wrote my story and I just switched PCP's and found out I should have been getting treatment on many things...LOL I think you should keep moving along but get as much documentation as possible. Every time you go in be sure to mention these problems so notes go in your file while you're waiting. I think the best thing for the PCP is to be detailed if possible. I'm finding the problems I 've run into are because I was to general. Good luck!

I didn't have many health problems either, but included everything I could think of like edema, constipation, diarreah, headaches,

varicose veins, missed periods, sexual dysfunction ( just due to size ), not being able to walk for more than a block without major pain in knees, family history

like diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. Just think of everything that has ever plagued you that could be related to weight issues.

I went through the EXACT same thing with actually going to my first consult

and then having to pay for it myself because I didn't know that I HAD to

have the consult approval. Like you, I don't have THAT many problems, but

what I did give to my new PCP was my co-morbids and my diet history and made

sure she sent this with my referral.

pre-pre-op Dr. Rabkin - consult June 14th

Here's a copy:

Co-Morbidities:

Chronic pain in feet, ankles, knees and lower back

Edema of ankles, feet and hands

Pressure Incontinence

Exercise Induced Asthma

Insulin Resistance

Irregular menstrual cycles

Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 1996-1997

Weight Watchers 1998 (6 months)

the deal

Okay this is the deal! I had a consult with Dr. E on May 14th, but I had to

cancel because I did not have authorization to go to it from my insurance,

so I am in the midst of having my pcp call my insurance and get approval for

me to go to a consult (okay) then the insurance company tells my pcp that

they will need a letter of necessity and they will have to decide if this is

something that I need done. Well, I have not had complications with my

health (Thank God!) that is noted in my health records nor have I ever been

tested for anything, so basically all my pcp can possibly write are the

basics, missed periods, weight (of course) swelling, varacose veins, aches
