Guest guest
Joann: Yes, it can be. In the first place it can be manipulated when removing the gall bladder, a part of the DS surgery that often has to be done. Secondly morbid obesity is hard on the liver sometimes causing it to be in poor condition. Finally the rapid weight loss from any type of WLS is hard on the liver, not just the DS. And of course drinking during this period puts another problem on our poor overworked liver. Regards. Guest guest
The primary reason that the DS is hard on the liver is that the liver is responsible for breaking down all this fat we're losing. However, ANY surgery or diet regime that causes you to lose weight fairly quickly places a huge stress on the liver.. which is why you need to have it in good working order before you have surgery.
