Guest guest
Hi F.-- My understanding is that we loose very little blood in the op if things go as usual. So blood is not usually needed. However, things sometimes happen. I did it for my hysterectomy a couple of years ago-- I think I was about a month out from surgery, but I think a couple of weeks will do. I intend to do it for this surgery, too. I am O neg, universal donor, and I would just as soon not use up the needed stores of O neg when I have my own. I can't donate blood because of some of the medications I am on, so having a pint or two sucked out in storage is the next best thing. I was going to talk to the lab folks at the hospital when I get my blood work done next week in the pre-op testing phase. Nan E.

Guest guest
nancy: Wow, I didn't know Mt. Sinai was doing an investigation into the stapler thing. I know Gagner was mad as hell though. At least that's what my sister said. I dont know Ivvone or Yvette's email's -but they probably are: ivonne.bailey@... and yvette.santiago@... You could try those. You need to have Ivonne get a unit # for the blood. She'll fax or send it to you and you bring that to the bloodbank. Guest guest
nan..hoping the blood will not be necessary..for both of us..but intend to have some stashed away, just in case..i also am o neg, but can't give blood because i have lupus..which is another concern of mine..that my immune system would " attack " the blood from any other donor..doctors are not worried..but lupus is so unpredictable..that i would worry anyway..so, blood bank, here i come..best regards nancy fissel dr. gagner 7/26/01 age and bmi are both 54! >From: leafyleaves@... >Reply-To: duodenalswitch >To: duodenalswitch >Subject: Re: transfusion during surgery >Date: Sun, 20 May 2001 14:01:14 EDT > >Hi F.-- >My understanding is that we loose very little blood in the op if things go >as >usual.
