Im am 4 weeks (to the day) post op.

Starting: 4/12/01 - 296lbs

5/12/01 - 260lbs (my scale with no shoes)

I had relatively no complications. I was out of the hospital in

three days and was off the pain meds when I left the hospital. I

returned to work in three weeks and for the most part, have only felt

tired. I walk 1-2 miles a day and get my water in (2 liters/66 oz a

day). I eat relatively normal, yet a lot smaller portions. Hope

this helps, if you have any other questions, this is the place to

ask. There is a lot of wisdom lurking here and you will hear the

good, the bad, and the ugly. Take all with a grain of salt, as

everyone faces experiences differenly and they are seen through

different eyes. I used this group extensively to find out about

surgery, and had no surprises (other than that silly JP tube, but

that is a different story).

Welcome to the list. If you'll note on my signature I have my weight at surgery and my current weight. I also have an address where I have before and after pictures. Some others do the same thing on their signatures. Another thing you can do is go to www.duodenalswitch.com, click on Patients and you will find a list of patient pages, many of which have before and after pictures.

Tell us about yourself. Are you contemplating surgery? The DS? Or just researching things at this point?

I focus on my protein, vitamins, some exercise, and eat what ever I want. I

am very happy with the DS and would do it all over again in a heart beat.
