Guest guest
Ellen: The timing of your post is excellent. Just visited my dd's dr today and your post is a reminder that this all takes time and meds are reduced and removed gradually. I have to keep reminding my self that patience is so important. I also believe that what we think and believe will happen most often comes true and I hope, think and believe my dd's progress will follow yours. So grateful to be able to read these posts and learn from those who have traveled this road before and offer glimmers of hope daughter 17, CD 6/09 SCD 9/09 > > My family's story seems to be a little (lot?!) different in that my dd's dr's (at the world-renowned Mass General Hospital in Boston, MA) were very supportive of the diet. The worst reaction we got was " if you want to try it, it's fine by me " and the best (the dr. we switched her care to) was: " It's a great diet. I try to get all my IBD patients to try it. That's why I have the lowest rate of readmission for GI's at this hospital! " > > So our dr. was onboard with it all. We got dd off meds VERY slowly. ly, I was not aiming for her to be off all meds. I was happy that we would hopefully be able to avoid TNF drugs (Remicade) and surgery. We weaned off the prednisone very slowly, and also of Prilosec and Flagyl and iron (not legal). Her labs were good. Took her 2 1/2 years until she got off the Imuran, and now she's been med-free for one entire year. > > We haven't seen the GI doc in 18 months, but she's going next month. > > Good luck, > > Ellen > 12 y/o dd scd since 5/06 for Crohn's > med-free for one year >
