Guest guest
Here's a list of things you should be able to try early on the diet: The cheesecake made with yogurt and DCCC. It's one of my favorite desserts! Yogurt with a little honey has been one of my favorites since day 1, as has frozen yogurt (very high calorie when made with 1/2 & 1/2 yogurt). Substitute butternut squash for pumpkin in the Pumpkin Pie recipe in BTVC. I like to make deviled eggs a lot. Zucchini or crook neck squash with either butter, or cooked in olive oil with parmesan cheese is good. Souffle bread works well to make either a tuna fish sandwich, or egg salad sandwich. It makes a decent enough hamburger bun as well. Baked apples with a bit of butter, honey, and cinnamon is tasty. Lemon curd is really good too. Hope that helps a bit! Once you can add nut butter in, the brownies are fantastic! Holly Crohn's SCD 12/01/08 > > Hi all, > > I've been reading loads of posts and I feel like I've come to the right place! > > I was diagnosed CD just two and a half weeks ago. Doc said I had a moderate case and put me on prednizone, which did NOTHING. Needless to say I was discouraged, running to the bathroom with D, mucus, blood 12-15 times a day. > > He now wants me on Remicade or Humira, which I would like to avoid for many reasons, not the least is which my hubby and I would love to have our second baby here in the near future. > > Well, I decided that while we waited on test results for Remicade, I would like to try the SCD. I started four days ago and I am already experiencing a lessening of symptoms (much less cramping, only 7-8 stools a day, less bloating, less urgency). > > My initial " wow this is amazing " has faded, and I hate to say it but I'm getting horribly tired of eating chicken with pureed carrots all day. I'm not complaining, just looking for some encouragement and perhaps some creative ideas? I suppose I'm still coming to accept the fact that I have Crohns. > > Right now my diet is this: > > 3 eggs in the morning > watered down (3/4 water, 1/4 grape juice) juice throughout the day > some grape jello squares > beef patties > chicken soup > today i ate little bites of a banana throughout the day > > I'm a teacher with little sick leave built up and I'm trying to work. I feel SO weak at times and then I get really discouraged and wonder if this is all worth it. I've lost 12 lbs. in the past two weeks and need to keep eating, but sometimes I feel like I want to vomit the soup! > > Does anyone have any thoughts about what else I could add to my diet that would help? Is there anything else I can do besides chicken soup? Is there hope? > > Thank you so much for your insight! > > Rebekah >
