So the ragweed is out in full bloom and my eyes are

watering like crazy. I've taken an allegra, but in the

meantime, what do you guys do for an effective

eyewash thingy? Is there anything particularly

soothing? Or does a nasal wash help as well?

Hi Mara,

My boyfriend has ragweed allergies and the only thing so far that has worked is

a homeopathic remedy that included ragweed. You should be able to find it at any

health food store. If there is a homeopath in the store, ask them what dose they

recommend. We used one that said to take one dose once a week, but he took it

once a day and it got rid of all his symptoms. We were pretty amazed, since

nothing else had helped (even over the counter allergy medications).

Mara & n,

Maybe the ragweed is what is bothering Kaitlyn?! Are the stinging nettle capsules SCD legal? I started her on Allegra two days ago and I know that is not legal. Maybe I should give it try.

I haven't tried stinging nettle but one thing that helps me with any

kind of stuffy head is quercitin. It's plant-based and is apparently

primarily a bioflavonoid, commonly found in apples, onions, teas,

leafy green veggies, berries, red wine and many other foods. It has

anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties as well, from what I am

reading, as well as the antihistamine properties.

I can't say for sure it's SCD legal but it sounds OK to me, and it

sure does help me when I'm all stuffed up (and without causing any

problems that I can tell).
