Guest guest
Thanks Elle, plant crone extraordinaire, the symbolism has meant a lot to me over the years. I have never had kids, and have had a hysterectomy so I was pitchforked into menopause a little early -- at 46. So I have been mentally adjusting to being in the third phase of a woman's life. With WLS, all the fat that presently fills in the wrinkles will be gone, and I will finally begin to look more ... seasoned. So now, in addition to referring to my yet-to be-weight loss not as shrinking, but as DISTILLING into a more potent essence of myself, I am just moving into a new phase of the moon. A slender crescent. Nan E. 386, BMI 71 and waiting

Guest guest
this may be " more " information than anyone wants, but I couldn't resist. this group is so full of love and sharing and acceptance of each other, no matter who we are and what our past, we have come together to research and support each other during this major decision in our lives. Along with symbolizing the moon, the )0( also signifies the three stages of a woman's life ).....is the maiden, the young girl child in her innocence-in the spring of her life bent towards the earth inspecting all that surrounds her. 0....is the fertile woman full [thus the 0] of nurturing and love and 'pregnant' with hope for the world, pregnant with the children and the future (....is the crone, the wise woman, no longer able to be pregnant she gathers wisdom and knowledge and shares it with men and women so that they may be strong. She too is bent towards the earth, looking for herbs and concocting 'simples and tinctures' . This is the sum of her life of learning. so when you see a ....)0( ....it is the Goddess and the woman and the connecting with the moon and life all in one. I really love referring to myself as a crone - I've earned these wrinkles and this knowledge. I think crone has dignity and stature..much better than 'ol'e lady' or 'senior citizen' it defines who I am jenn wrote > > It's actually a symbol that means " Goddess " it > > symbolizes the three phases of the moon.
