She has dementia, and has been bed-bound since February, although she really couldn't walk before that. This week, Mom's connection with reality has become more tenuous.I've been making mixes of meat, vegetables, and broth and pureeing it in my Cuisinart for her to eat. I've also done ripe banana, a little orange juice, some DCCC, some honey, and some vanilla, just because she really likes sweet stuff.Yesterday, she refused all food. We only got water into her by dribbling it into her mouth with a syringe, and/or giving her ice chips.Sadly, I have a feeling she won't be with us much longer. This is going to shatter my Dad: they had their 64th wedding anniversary in July.Hope y'all will forgive me if I don't get a few things done just yet. I'll TRY to get recipes posted.— MarilynNew Orleans, Louisiana, USAUndiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001Darn Good SCD CookNo Human ChildrenShadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

I'll TRY to get recipes posted. — Marilyn Marilyn, my heart goes out to all of you. Losing a parent is, I think, one of the hardest things in the world. We will all be praying for you, I know. Just be with your family, and don't worry about the group. We know you are more than fully occupied. Try to take care of yourself as best you can. 64 years of marriage -- that's amazing! Guest guest
Marilyn, What you are doing is a labor of love that surpasses the capabilities of most people. Please take comfort in knowing you have stood by your mom and will continue to see it through with the most unselfish love possible. You are an amazing woman and I am sure your parents both know that too. Your mom may not be in our reality now, but she knows it on some level. I will be thinking of you, Val > > Hope you--if not now, eventually-- have tome to breathe, refresh, > renew yourself. > > Sending prayers, > Ruth > > OT: My Mom's Quit Eating > Posted by: " Wizop Marilyn L.
