Guest guest
I just wanted to share what I did last year for my daughter for Halloween. Before she went trick or treating, I told her if she got me enough good candy, I would trade her for a surprise. So, when we got home, she gave me her candy and I had a sweater for her. She was sooooooo happy. I am looking forward to it again this year. Our kids miss out a lot with this illness/diet. It was nice to know that she could still enjoy Halloween. By the way, we have been on the diet 1 year and 3 months, and have been doing great! She is a very active, happy teenager. Happy Halloween! Guest guest
That's a great idea for older kids! I bet younger kids would like to trade legal treats for their forbidden trick or treat candy. I discovered that I can make caramels from honey and butter. They are delicious and my son loves them. Actually, all my kids love them. There are several recipes online for different variations of caramels and candy. I wrap little pieces in parchment paper and roll them and twist the ends like salt water taffy. I'm planning to make a bunch of these so my son doesn't feel left out when everyone else is eating candy. He's 14 and we don't really celebrate Halloween, but everyone is eating candy this time of the year and I want him to have something almost " normal " .
