It wasn't so much that I wanted pizza, I just honestly didn't know what to do. Worked out. Whew! Yay for your wife =) I'm glad you didn't cheat. Guest guest
, Good for you! It isn't easy at first, that's for sure. I can promise you, it does get easier with time. A little more each time, actually. After awhile, it's almost as though you don't even pay attention any more to what " they " eat. It's just there, like dogfood or something. I've only been on SCD a couple of months but I'm coming from 27 years of severely limited diet (unless I wanted to be really really sick) and it's only occasionally now that I pay much attention to " regular " food. When I do it's mostly because something smells good, and I just think, " Oh, smells good. " No real urges any more to eat it because I know all too well what would happen if I did. Keep up the good work!
Guest guest
I make an SCD pizza from a recipe another SCDer published but without any particular proportions. I boil some chicken thighs or whatever part of chicken we have. I then remove the bone(s) leaving the gristle, skin, and meat. I then add the chicken stuff to eggs blending it in my food processor with on hand salt and herbs to make the bread part of the pizza. I have a big frying pan that I use to cook this mixture into a circular pizza type bread. The pizza sauce is Glen Muir fire roasted version of their canned tomatoes with added garlic, onion, herbs and various cheeses we have at home, etc. The key is I kind of just throw in whatever we have on hand to lend a new twist. I found some kind of sausage at Costco that tastes great with SCD legal appearing ingredients that causes me no intestinal distress. Because this recipe takes considerable time I only make it occasionally. At first I made it a lot but then it just became another acceptable food. Since our children were young once or twice per month on Saturdays I made home made pizzas with wheat flour. I am a pizza addict. Guest guest
> , Here is a link to a few restaurants in Austin where you can order foods that are SCD legal. Matt's El Rancho and Threadgills are old Austin favorites that others in your group might enjoy. The original Threadgills is where Janis Joplin used to play. Fuddruckers is a good burger place with several locations around the edges of the city. If there's a way to print out the page, it helps to show newbie waiters what they have, since they don't always get it at first. Tell them what you want to order -- unmarinated meats, etc --- and make sure they tell the chef, as usual in restaurants. I hope you have the chance to enjoy Austin a bit. Guest guest
It gets easier too! This summer, I went out to " eat " with family. I had an iced tea, while they all (wrongly) felt incredibly guilty for eating in front of me. I kept saying I didn't mind at all, but I guess they found it hard to believe. Their food looked good, and smelled good, but I truly had no desire to eat it.
