Guest guest
-Dr. Rutledges surgeries have been cancelled and he is being investigated for insurance fraud. The hospital Duram Regional Hospital as suspended the MGB procedure, this is the second hospital to ban Dr.Rutledge's MGB surgery. I will answer the last question first, DS surgery does not cause foul body-odor. Bad smelling gas at times yes, but never a body-odor. I encourage you to relax and take your time in researching WLS. This is a huge decision and will effect you for the rest of your life. You should be aware of potential complications of each surgery, both short-term and long-term. Also the quality of life as a post-op, with distal procedures such as the DS we need to supplement with vitamins, calcium and enough protein to keep us healthy. For me I think this is a terrific trade off in exchange for being thin and healthy. Whether to have surgery lap or open is a decision only you can make. I chose my doctor because of his experience. The more you ask ,the more you will know.

I haven't seen any post here about it. Is it a side- >effect, if so does it go away? Thanks, , Denver, NC I am pre-op, so I cannot comment based on experience. I think that you can learn a lot from Dr. Baltasar's article: http://www.drbaltasar.com/Cruce_duodenal_Ing.html He practices in Spain. Some people without insurance have found it cheaper to travel to Spain and have the BPD/DS than to have it here in the US. Best of luck, Steve Lap BPD/DS with Dr. Elariny scheduled for May
