Guest guest
I recently read this on an SCD blog. Yuck! And to find out why very little fast food is to be trusted, read this article: http://www.rense.com/general7/whyy.htm Here's a small excerpt: The canning, freezing, and dehydrating techniques used in processing destroy most of food's flavor -- and so a vast industry has arisen in the United States to make processed food palatable. Without this flavor industry today's fast food would not exist. The names of the leading American fast-food chains and their best-selling menu items have become embedded in our popular culture and famous worldwide. But few people can name the companies that manufacture fast food's taste. The flavor industry is highly secretive. Its leading companies will not divulge the precise formulas of flavor compounds or the identities of clients. The secrecy is deemed essential for protecting the reputations of beloved brands. The fast-food chains, understandably, would like the public to believe that the flavors of the food they sell somehow originate in their restaurant kitchens, not in distant factories run by other firms. A Mc's french fry is one of countless foods whose flavor is just a component in a complex manufacturing process. The look and the taste of what we eat now are frequently deceiving -- by design. Guest guest
Hi All, Probably needless to say…….. Fast Food always lives up to its billing with me. If I eat it it’ll make me feel bad – fast – and go through my body – fast. I’ve tried the burgers without the bun even and it’s no solution. That’s just the way it is for me so I just pass those places by. Our way of is certainly not conducive to Fast Food however there’s always something else to eat in a pinch at the local grocery if you’re advanced enough to eat something along the lines of what a Fast Food place would sell. That would be a better and safer option as the results of not adhering to the SCD are certainly more damaging, time consuming and upsetting. Side note – my wife, 3 kids and I were heading out on a road trip that required about a 3 hour drive. I had my SCD food and plenty of it; they wanted to stop at Carl’s Jr. (fast food burger joint) for food on the way. It was a hot day and we had the windows up with the A/C on - which did an amazingly efficient job of recirculating the aroma of fresh fried onion rings. Talk about cruel and unusual punishment…….. J It was easy enough to mitigate these thoughts though by replacing them with where those onion rings would get me. Enjoy! S. – IBD 1988, SCD 6/19/07, NO MEDS! Talk about cruel and unusual punishment…….. J I know whatcha mean! Just yesterday on the 6 hour journey home from georgia, I was stuck in the car with the windows up and two 's chicken sandwiches with fries. Plus, I was starving! And all I had was a lumpy smoothie. =) I just sat there in the back with the bag in my lap, inhaling deeply, which IMO is better than nothing at all, even if it is slight torture. =) Pour Dieu, pour terre,Alyssa 15UC April 2008, diagnosed Sept 2008SCD June 2009 (restarted)20mg Prednisone 1x daily ugh

Guest guest
There came a day for me, well into the diet, where the smell of fast “food” was enough to nauseate me. Still to this day, whenever my husband brings home the occasional fast “food” for himself I say “PU! That Stinks!” I now hate the smell of fast “food”. And especially since reading that link here this morning from ‘Fast Food Nation’ about all the chemicals in fast “food” that make the aromas so appealing. Fake chemical aromas – they stink! I’ll bet in the future, when you are riding in an enclosed car with fast “food” you’ll be sayin’ “PU- open your window please!”. Guest guest
Smell of pizza does it for me! I just wait.. stand.. and sniff... and then take a huge deep breath! There is a pizza shop on the corner of my block. Never felt good eating pizza and I always remember that. The aroma is far more enticing. Guest guest
I've never liked the smell of fast food. I used to have a couple friends who worked at Taco Bell and Mc's. I hated being around them when they got off work, because they STANK! I hate driving by fast food joints too. They smell like B.O. to me. Blech! When my mom and I went on our trip a couple weeks ago, she would say every now and then, " If your dad was with us, we'd have to pull into that Mc's. " As it was, we were fast food (& stink) free the whole week! When I used to live in Nebraska, there was a restaurant there called Valentino's. Now that place smelled good, like fresh baked bread!
