A little common sense goes a long way when it comes to eating. I personally no longer trust a lot of stuff that comes from the Center for Science in the Public Interest. For one thing, they are positively evangelical about the myth that fat is bad for you and makes you fat (and sugar doesn't). Some of those folks need to get a life, in my opinion. Ice cream is better for you than salid? I realize ice cream probably has a high protein level; but it also has even higher sugar levels. I'll take my chances with lettuce and tomatoes and other greens.n

Y'know, WATER is dangerous and carries a lot of bacteria, too.

It's an interesting article, but I agree with the people who objected to

it. Scaring people away from healthy foods is absurd.

Somehow, it reminds me of a discussion on the old Long Island List about

cookware. Everyone agreed on needing to cook things. But this type of

cookware was dangerous because... and that type of cookware was dangerous

for another reason, and a third kind was also dangerous

because....

I don't think any of the disputants convinced their opposite numbers, but

I came to the conclusion that gathering and preparing food was dangerous

to one's health if one believes every article about every kind of

problem.
