Have you tried going dairy free (with ghee) for a few months. That can help you heal - and then after that you can add dairy back in slowly. Guest guest
You might want to try goats yogurt when you feel you are ready to try again. You certainly need the probiotics. S. boulardi is not a probiotic, it is a helpful yeast that works with the probiotics. There are legal probiotics in capsule form. You can check on pecanbread web site to check these out. Wishing you good health, Pat, son crohns 3 years, scd 2 1/2 years Anyone not tolorate the SCD Yogurt? I have been on SCD since 8/6/09. For the first month I was making very good progress and my CD was almost symptom free. After the first month my yogurt maker arrived and I started making SCD yogurt exactly as instructed. For the past two months my digestion has not been as good with pain, gas and cramps after eating. I still have very occasional D, maybe once a week at most. I have started taking S boulardi. I know it may be the 2-3 month flare but it is going on a long time. I read that CD is a two year "cure time". I follow the diet with the required "fanatical adherance". I have BTVC and am sorry that the author has now passed away. I would have loved to Thank her. After 30 plus years of CD I discover that there is a diet that makes a big differene after all. As of today I am going to stop taking the yogurt and see if I improve again. I have had CD since 1977 but have had some periods of remission. However since July 2008 my CD came back and I lost 30lbs bringing my weight to 150lbs. (I am a 6ft man.) Right now I am not too concerned about gaining the weight back, I think this will come with healing. I am thinking my progress is being impaired by the SCD yogurt, that I somehow do not tolorate it. I have noticed that the cheesecake does not seem to agree with me, even though it is listed on the Intro diet. Maybe I just need to be more patient with this diet. I hope I can take the SCD yogurt, if not now but in the future because it is such a big part of SCD. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Do somepeople do SCD without the yogurt? This is a great forum. Thanks to all. CD since 7/77 SCD snce 8/

Guest guest
I don't dare even try yoghurt yet, having been allergic to dairy my whole life. Later, later, I suspect it will work.

Guest guest
Hi . If you like dairy products/drinks and you suspect that the yoghurt is the culprit, then why not just create kefir instead ? It is simple and we have seen yoghurt-issues resolved almost immediately at our house. J

Guest guest
Hi , I have 4 months in and somewhere about the 3 month marker the same thing happened to me with the yogurt. Eventually, it became eggs and pretty much everything I put into my mouth except the intro diet. I went back to the intro. I gave up the yogurt and felt immediate relief but there was an immense difference once the chicken soup was added in. The chicken soup began healing the discomfort within a day. I kept it up with meat patties and eventually added in some level 1 foods found at http://www.pecanbread.com/new/recipes.html I have to tell you welches grape juice and seltzer water in a winde glass made me feel like I was having something fancy. I guess everyone needs to be a princess!! It has only been a week and I have been able to add tomatoes, soup, cellary into my soup while I make it. I have been able to eat Peanut Butter. I don't have well formed stools yet, but it is not a painful water fountain anymore. It may be different for me because I have UC. I strongly suggest the chicken soup as per the intro instructions. The bone marrow in the chicken is a natural anti-inflammatory and may help allieviate the symptoms. I have not re-introduced the yogurt but will try again either after I have better well formed stools or my doc off the support list on http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/support/support.htm has given me the go ahead. If you have the opportunity to see one of these SCD experienced Docs I strongly suggest you do. I believe I lucked out with mine. I will cross the can't tolerate yougurt bridge if the re-introduction doesn't work out. I can tell you I am hesistant and almost scared to try again, but know that in the begining the yogurt was a God Send. As I take it slow I will think of you. I have your symptoms for about 7 weeks and have had to increase my meds from 1 pill twice a day to 5 pills twice a day. Sometimes we have to step back to go forward. I am sorry it took me so long to surrender and go backward. Take Care, Val UC 3 years Asacol 4000 MG daily SCD 4 months + Mother & Wife > > I have been on SCD since 8/6/09.
