I don't know about Kaiser, but I found a website that sells vitamins for WLS patients: it's called Vista Vitamins.

walmart had a couple kinds of liquid vitamins, for bariatric, and interestingly, geriatric patients. I also found the sub lingual B12 there too. Not too expensive either!

In general, I'm not a big fan of vitamins designed specifically for

bariatrics patients. The problem is that they tend to be WAY too

expensive, and we don't NEED special vitamins. Immediately post-op, yes,

most do need either liquid or chewables, but witnin a few weeks, you can

use store brand equivalents of things like Centrum.

One thing to STAY AWAY from is one-size-fits-all vitamin programs.

One-size-fits-all doesn't work for clothing, and it doesn't work for

vitamins. The problem is that we all absorb things differently. Some

people don't absorb iron in any oral form, and some have no problems,

while others need specific forms. Most of us have no problems absorbing

B12 sublingually, but some can't absorb it at all and need to do

injections. What is important is to get regular lab tests done and

adjust the supplementation regimen to correct anything that's low.

That's where one-size-fits-all really fails us.

I admit, when I see special bariatric formula vitamins, I immediately

suspect that someone has figured out that we're a cash cow (so to

speak). If you slap a " Bariatrics " or " Weight Loss Surgery " label on

something, you can charge many times as much for it as for the regular.

Cynical, moi?

If you want, I can send you a list of what we need, in what forms. I

personally order everything through vitalady, since that way I don't

have to worry about whether or not it's the right form. The price tends

to be pretty competitive to, and she has earned my personal loyalty, so

I ain't gonna fight trying to save fifty cents on a bottle of vitamins.

Heck, my time and gas are worth more than that!

Hey Flo, have you tried the ones from Bariatric

Adventure? Those are the ones I use and they can set

you up on a month to month, or even more detailed

schedule so that you don't have to remember to

purchase your vitamins. The just automatically send

them and charge your credit card. So far so good and

I have been with this since February of this year.

Just a thought but ultimately, you have to do what

works for you.

Pam, is this a different company from " Bariatric Advantage " ? (the

name is similar to " Bariatric Adventure " )

Your description sounds like the way Bariatric Advantage can set you

up for monthly schedule.

Also, Bariatric Advantage vitamins are sold at some Kaiser

Pharmacies. I know Point West, Sacramento does, and I think

Fremont, SSF and Richmond sell this brand too. (I have NOT seen

them at Roseville yet, though.)
