Guest guest
Dear Dorian: Sounds like the inner stitch holding the tube hadn't dissolved yet. Dr A told me that it took about 2 weeks but sometimes took less. When I asked him what would happen if it hadn't dissolved he said it would tend to feel like he was trying to pull my insides outside! LOL However in my case it didn't matter as mine was taken out about a month later because I was so nauseated for 12 weeks. Guest guest
Well after reading that Dorian, my stomach hurts bad. I think I am going to puke. Sorry guys, but I do have a weak stomach. I didn't even know until we went to the support group Tuesday night, and Blackman told us that we would have to have a drainage tube. I didn't know it and I wasn't a happy camper. But I still know and am ready to go through all that I must. I did tell Dr. E that I DID NOT WANT an NG tube and he said I didn't have to. Well I am glad that you shared it though so I can be "prepared". Kathy who hates tubes and on 5/1 will get however many she needs so she can lose weight

I was told the NG tube was there to avoid nausea early post op. They normally take it our after 24hours. However, when Dr. Hess didn't mention taking it out at about that time, I did not mention it either. I certainly didn't want nausea! Time frames are a blur to me now, but I think I had mine in until 48 hours post op. It was nice getting it out, but I would have left it in if they would have let me. Guest guest
Hi, I did go home (well back to the hotel) with two drains still in. This had nothing to do with leaks!! It is simply done to make sure extra drainage doesn't collect inside of you. They came out at about 10 days post-op. Attached to the drains were just two little bottles. They were very easy to empty and deal with. As far as how it felt when they were taken out, the first one hurt!!!!! It did, period! But the second one did not hurt at all! Weird huh? Anywise it was short lived pain and well worth this end result! My advice.........take pain pills right before and it will be a breeze! I was off all pain pills by day five and relied on Tylenol! Guest guest
When my JP drain was removed, it didn't hurt, but something bizarre happened: when the tube came out, my belly squealed like a balloon does when you stretch the opening and let the air out slowly.
