Guest guest
Sorry to be asking all these questions. I go back to work tomorrow and won't be able to get on here much and am trying to get everything planned for food for my son while I'm at work and figure out what I can take for lunch. I copied a bunch of recipes from pecanbread.com and a few other websites. Most contain nut butter. We normally eat a lot of almond butter (Maranatha brand - how do I find out if it's legal?), so I have it on hand. We won't be doing peanut butter for a long time. How do I know when I can start giving my son things baked with nut butter? He doesn't really have a lot of symptoms and has no pain right now. This is our 9th day on the diet. It would open up a whole new world of food and ways to help him put some weight back on, but I don't want to rush it and have to go back to chicken soup and canned pears. Thanks! Guest guest
Hi Liz, Nut butter is easier to digest than nut flour. Everyone is different so you'll have to give it a try. You could give him 1 teaspoon one day, skip 2 days and see if he reacts...Give him 1 tablespoon and wait again. If he doesn't react negatively, than you can start cooking with it. I buy the maranatha almond butter also and do really well with it. I don't do well with nut flours. It would be cheaper if you could grind the nuts in a food processor. I was told that 10 min. should do it. You may need to add some olive oil or other kind of oil, depending on the strength of your processor. Hope this helps. GERDS and chronic C.
