Tina, you are NOT a freak of nature. I shave, but I get away with

every other day. My mom did too, and when she got too sick to take

care of it herself I shaved her.

I really hadn't seriously thought of permanent hair removal. I had

heard that electrolysis doesn't always do it permanently, but this

lazer hair removal sounds like a good idea. Does it really work?

Would it work on eyebrow hair and chin and upper lip?

Maybe I'll think about that before I get to my tummy tuck & boob

lift. Thanks, ladies for bringing up the subject.

Hi Sandi,

I've benefitted from laser hair removal at Advanced Laser off Howe in Sac. (on

Scrips?) I paid up front for a 5 year guarantee for my chin and it was worth

every penny. (It's been 4 years and I've had 11 mini-treatments because my hair

grows in screwy cycles) I also bought a leg package with a 2 year guarantee for

my teenage daughter. Imagine never having to shave your legs! She's been kind

of fickle keeping appointments and just had her last (5th) one. The dark hair

that's zapped does not grow back. It doesn't work on blonde or grey/white hair.

It's interesting talking to the guys in the waiting room who are getting their

backs, neck treated or having skin treatments. Haven't met anyone dissatisfied

yet.

It can be really expensive if you go to a M.D.'s office (Advanced Laser is run

by an R.N.).

It's funny, because I use Rogaine on my head.

I agree it will be funny for me, too; the hair on my head has thinned

through the years, while my facial hair has gotten heavier. Reminds

me of both my dad and hubby, and they got balder on top their chests

and backs got harrier! LOL! I always thought of it as the hair

slipped lower on their bodies!!! LOL!

But, thanks for the tips about the place on Howe Avenue. I'll have

to check on them. Have you ever checked to see about if Kaiser does

the laser hair removal?

I seem to remember my hair gettting thinner after my hysterectomy

about 4 years ago. Then some more about 4 months after the WLS.

Maybe it's the shock to the system that surgery does to you??

I just made a consultation with Advanced Laser on Scripps drive for

July 1st. I read on their website that some blonde hair does have

pygmentation and can be lasered but some cannot. They suggest you

come in for a consultation and they'll be able to tell.

I'm afraid to see what it's going to cost me to do my neck, chin,

and side burns! If it's not too horrible...I might even consider

doing my legs later.

Thanks Robin for the info on laser hair removal! It'll be so nice

not to have to shave a beard daily!

If I remember correctly, it was 4-5 hundred dollars for four or 5 sessions. I just signed up for lower legs, and

Ditto! My husband knows I do it too but it is so totally

embarassing. I'll let you know how the consult goes.
