Hey, I consume whole Organic raw eggs in my smoothie a couple of times a week. I have read if you consume the egg white and the yolk at the same time there is no problem, right?-JJDSCDUCTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Friday, September 18, 2009 2:43:20 AMSubject: Re: Egg Whites/Biotin (was: Protein packed breakfast smoothie?) I have a biotin and pantothenic acid deficiency, most likely caused by dysbiosis from abx. I have not been able to tolerate any biotin supplementation. All biotin has caused D. The doctor says she has never heard of this and I cannot find any reference in the literature.

Please tell me what you took to remedy your deficiency, and how much. Also, did you have a problem supplementing or have you ever heard of this?

I would be very grateful for any response as I have all symptoms of deficiency and no answers.

Thank you...

Although plentiful in many foods, biotin deficiency can occur where digestion is compromised (biotin is synthesized from healthy gut flora) and where egg white consumption occurs. If you are consuming egg whites, keep your eyes open for symptoms of Biotin deficiency: hair loss, weakness, lack of muscle coordination, etc.

> I had this happen to me on the diet and lost a good quantity of hair, unfortunately, before my docs realized what was going on. And despite what many nutritionists say ("you need to consume more than 20 eggs a day for biotin to be affected"), I only had egg white smoothies 2-3 times a week. I believe that for me, it was the combination of egg whites and a compromised digestive flora that caused my deficiency.

I suspect she typoed. 10,000 MICROgrams would be 10 milligrams. Which

would be much more in line with what your were prescribed.
