I am sure that if the container says it contains live culture, that it probably

does or did at some point! It is just that it doesn't have anywhere near what

it should and also contains starches and sugar most of the time unless she is

getting plain. If it were me, I would be recommending the capsule probiotics if

she doesn't have the space to make yogurt regularly. My husband can't do too

much dairy, so he uses capsule probiotics instead of the yogurt.

They pasteurize it before the probiotics go in - otherwise it would just

be spoiled milk, not yogurt. As long as you eat it in the beginning

of the

sell by date, it should be fine. And as long as you get one with

good, reliable probiotics.

Thanks, that makes sense. I hadn't thought of it in terms of the

spoiled milk possibility!
