Mara- can you tell me the pros and cons of either? I'm not sure which I want to

get.

Thanks,

They were recommending that people with IBS start with

the cream when I started LDN because some people

might not be fully absorbing the medicine. That's why

I started it that way - don't know of any cons - sometimes

it leaves a small residue on your skin you have to wipe

off with a wet cloth - that's really it.

I've used the pills occasionally - don't know a con there either -

except

reaching - some people on SCD might react to the filler - I guess. I

know

the Marilyn on LDN thinks she was reacting to the red capsule used

by Skip's pharmacy and she believes it led to eczema. That doesn't

seem to be typical by any means, but you never know.

I would slightly recommend the cream for IBS newbies over the pills,

except

when it comes to serious cases of crohn's - and then cream all the

way. Or

if you are underweight and have a known absorption problem.

Have them fill the prescription for 4.5 (if you weigh 105 or up,

otherwise

3.0), but depending on your sensitivity to drugs, you might want to

start

at 1.5 or 3 for a few nights and see how you react. I should add, I

started

at 4.5 and was fine.

Also, if you are sensitive to drugs, or are worried about starting at

the

full dose right away - it's easier to do that with a cream than the

pill - though you can do it with the pill as well. (for 1.5 level dose,

open capsule and mix into a cup of water. Mix thoroughly, drink 1/3 the

first night, 1/3 second night, 1/3 3rd night, etc.)

BTW, did you see the LDN guy 2 hours away, or did your local doc

write the script?

Thanks Mara,

Yes, I had to drive 2 hours (both ways) to get this, but it was worth it. He

recommended starting with 1.5. I think I will get the cream, that way I can

adjust the dose.

I'm calling Coastal Compounding on Monday to get the details.
