I have similar feelings... I'm about 9 weeks post-op and have lost 38 lbs! I do notice my clothes much more loose fitting and I've lost inches, man! Good thing my mom had me measure myself beforehand. That's always good to see even if the scales aren't moving! I had my first plateau at 4 weeks post-op and it lasted two weeks. I've heard of plateaus lasting a month (or more - or less LOL). I know it's difficult, but try not to compare yourself to others. I have one friend (my 'surgery sister' Mona who went in right before me) and she's lost a whopping 50 lbs (she was at a similar pre-op bmi, too!). I really try to look on the bright side: Our skin will have more time to recover and as long as it all comes off in time... hey! I can totally understand the second guessing oneself, though. Guest guest
I know it is sooooo hard to do, but I have learned that you cannot compare yourself to others. I am 5 1/2 weeks post-op and I have lost 33 pounds. I started at 283 and I am now 250. My " switch sister " had lost more than that by the 3rd week post-op and initially it made me feel like I was a failure or that I was doing something wrong. I now have a new attitude. It comes off in its own time. We are all different and maybe I will continue to lose for a longer period of time than another person. Maybe after we clear a plateau, 6 pounds will drop off. It is really important to NOT focus on the scale as HARD as that is. I know I am following the rules and the weight is coming off, so I am just going with the flow. I am definitely seeing a difference in my clothes. I might suggest that you measure yourself today and compare the measurements in 2 weeks. I am sure that your clothes are fitting differently. Maybe you are just being too tough on yourself! Best of luck! in IL Dr. Lap DS 2/28/01 -33 pounds

Guest guest
Hi- Plateaus are annoying but happen tio us all. When I hit my first 3 week plateau I spoke to my nutritionise and she told me to incorporate more fat. So I did. I broke that plateaunut my next one was 4 weeks. It is okay and just know it will come off. Ellen(Pam)
