His work can't be 'that' bad if he's still able to practice ... hugs, Cait need advice I wrote about my problem with the dentist leaving. I can't go to the dentist who replaced the dentist who left because he is not in the office on Mondays or Fridays--the days I have for sure rides. So today I was looking through the phone book at the listings for dentists. And I found out my old, old dentist (Dr. R) has opened a new practice! He had sold his practice in town years and years ago and was volunteering his services at the county jail. But now he is back! That sounds like it should be an easy decision but here's my current dilemma. Dr. R is the nicest dentist I've ever met, the most compassionate, the kindest dentist ever. The problem is he is not the BEST dentist. In fact his work is well known to be a little substandard. But I know he would not hurt me. With the TN and the MS it is always a problem to see a dentist, you know. What should I do? Go back to the really kind, sweet, compassionate dentist that does slightly substandard work or someone else that may do great work but is not so kind and compassionate? Please give me your opinions! Guest guest
When I was growing up I went to a dentist that was very rough and heartless. If I cried he told me to shut up, and then it seemed like the Novocain wore off before he was done. I had a lot of cavities so there were many trips to him. It left me traumatized about having my teeth worked on for most of my life. Once I get into the chair and numbed up I’m not as fearful now, it’s just getting me there. Lol… I found a good dentist when we were living on Whidbey Isl. Wa., but he moved away before we did, and I went to another one and she wrecked my crown and drilled down my teeth so my teeth would fit the crown. So now I have dull choppers. OY! One time he told me I needed to have my teeth cleaned again and I told him no! I told him the last time his hygienist cleaned my teeth it threw me into an MS flare. He looked so upset and actually got tears in his eyes. He apologized and apologized. That made me feel bad for even mentioning it. lololhugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Coming from a dentalphobic who needs work done extensively, but hasn’t found anyone she can trust to treat me nice. Guest guest
Sharon,You've probably decided this already... but I'm of two opinions.. substandard is better than none.. as I'm finding out about the 'none' now after my refusal to see any cause one numbskull messed with me (incidentally, I don't see his shingle in that office complex anymore so have to wonder). But then again, will substandard suffice in what you need done.. and how much will it cost you down the road financially.. My medicare assured program only pays $500 every two years for dental care (and it looks like it might be cut entirely now, at least in PA). And if PA is not the only state having to do this cutting of even the $500 every two years.. and you have no dental coverage at all down the road a bit.. it will be less expensive to fix the substandard.. rather than wait for a decent dentist to move into the area and have him do more restoration out of pocket... So I didn't help with the decision much.. but as I said, it's most likely been made already.. but if it still counts.. my vote would be for substandard now, rather than way more repairs down the road, and completely out of pocket then..
