Guest guest
Hi all, I go by Jewellz. I have 4 kiddos age 6 and under and I'm 5 weeks pregnant. I have been wanting to do this diet for a while but just really put it off for a while. But now I'm going to be starting it on Sept. 1st. We are already a gluten free household and I'm also dairy free and egg free because of my almost 9 month old breastfed son. My oldest is also egg free because of behavioral issues. So far I've decided to go on it but am trying to decide if I want to have my oldest three on it as well although they are the pickiest eaters and I also would have opposition to the diet from hubby and FIL-who we live with, they would possibly sabotage the diet. My oldest has defiance issues when I realized that it was because she was reacting to eggs but now I think that there maybe something else too. I would like to put them all on it because each of them have issues that I think would be helped with the diet. Although I don't want to be on this diet forever just enough to see what they are reacting to and then eventually go back to the gluten free diet. So how do you deal with opposition and picky kids? How do you have time to make everything from scratch? We are a busy family working up at my parents farm twice a week because my chickens and garden are up there plus we are finishing the upstairs addition in our house and getting ready to move up there and organize the whole house plus dealing with morning sickness. What exactly do you have to make everyday when just starting out? Do all the baked goods have egg in them? Not only does my daughter have problems with eggs and my breastfed son have problems when I eat eggs, I think that I have egg problems as well (I have chronic diarrhea especially since I had my gallbladder taken out 3 yrs ago) then a few weeks ago I stopped eating eggs for my son also around that time I'd just gotten pregnant that my diarrhea went away and for the first time in a while my stools are normal. So I'm hoping to use this diet to heal my gut and be able to go back to eating eggs and dairy and not have any problems. Is there anyone who has problems with cow and goat milk that can have the SCD yogurt and farmers cheese without any problems whatsoever? My bf son can not tolerate the cow or goat milk products, the cow milk products at all but I can have tiny amounts of goat milk cheddar no more then 1oz. He is very sensitive about this and will end up with colicky symptoms after I eat this. My third child was the first on that I couldn't have cow's milk with but was fine with goat milk products and she kinda out grew it after 8 months but still doesn't like it too much to this day, my almost 9 month still cant tolerate it or even the goat milk stuff and I know that even thought I'm going to be switching him over to hypoallergenic formula for 3 months till he starts to eat table foods, that I want to be able to give him some of the yogurt and I don't want to be eating dairy during my pregnancy that will make the new baby get fussy from sensitivity to the yogurt if that makes sense. For example my third child had problems with dairy until she was 8 months old and as soon as she was fine I went back to eating dairy products then 11 months later my youngest was born and he started having problems with cow and goat milk products so I had to go to coconut milk products. But that's getting expensive and I don't want to jeopardize my future kids with sensitivities to dairy again. So I was wondering if there was anyone who is this sensitive to dairy that can enjoy the farmers cheese and SCD yogurt without the pain and worry of messing up? Also when in the stages would you start taking the supplements recommended? The multi-vitamin? The quin-b-strong? The calcium? The probiotics? The digestive enzymes? Because I'm pregnant I really need the vitamins and supplement also just coming from breastfeeding for 9 months plus that pregnancy with digestive problems prob because of malabsorbsion issues so I'd really like to optimize the diet since I'm so limited already but don't want to make it worse starting too soon. Also the SCD yogurt? Also I was just reading on the group that some of Elaine's recommended products were not approved anymore, What were they and was are the new recommended products? Anyway thank you all for reading this and for your future help. If I have anymore questions I hope to get them answered and be able to help out other members too. Guest guest
Firstly, WOW that's a bunch of kids all at a young age, hope the pregnancy is treating you fairly. I have 4 kids too. Just wanted tot tell you that during my most recent pregnancy, I had immediate relief and was able to eat everything my heart desired. However from experience, I knew it was the hormones that was creating it and not because I was suddenly healed. So the hour I gave birth, I got back to my <yuck> yogurt and stuff. Feel good but be cautious!
Guest guest
Hi Jewellz, I commend you for doing this while your family is so young. I have picky kids, but they are all teens on up. I am the only one on the diet in my family. The one thing I make almost daily is the yogurt. I like to stay ahead on production which gives me time off on weekends or other events. I also stay on top of cooked apples, mayonnaise and nut butter. The cookbook " cooking for chrons celiacs,colitis... " has a daily, monthly cooking shopping plan with a companion website that may be helpful. If you like nut muffins, nut flour breads, and so on, it's good to cook in large batches and freeze- which is key- cook a lot and freeze for almost everything. For my family, I usually cook a legal main dish- and then add sides for the rest of the family- such as a rice, pasta, or potato dish. They seem happy with this. On days I am so busy- I can get something prepared for them at the store, or take-out, and I'm happy with yogurt and veggies or fruit for dinner on those days. Hope this helps, PJ > > > > Hi all, > I go by Jewellz. I have 4 kiddos age 6 and under and I'm 5 weeks pregnant. Guest guest
I hear ya!!! had 4 under 5 and now am looking at each of their lil issues and considering how to get them all scd - it won't be an easy task !!!!!! i've been on 20 months and was on in a way while breastfeeding too wityhout realizing- but my advice is: youngest 1st my 4 y.o. started 2 1/2 weeks ago - (they had a lot of meat ,veges fruits anyway 80-90% legal anyway)so I just went all legal - but I didn't do intro ,didn't do 1 food at a time- just getting him switched over totally was 1st priority - bought him the GI pro health powdered vits -I dilute them into water and Tropicana (i'd never given juice so he's probably in his glory -LOL - I am letting the others see how he loves it and them taste test etc -if willing -and point out at dinner that all this HAPPENS to be scd etc - doesn't mean some horrible diet etc anyway that's how i'm starting oh, I give him my kirkmans acidophilus too and I know he has yeast but I give fruit still for now - cutting though and minimal honey -I am honey fruit high carb free but didn't want to push him away right off the bat, so just doing my best - while still feeding the rest! - welcome and ask away good luck eileen > > > > Hi all, > I go by Jewellz.
