Guest guest
My oldest son who is in a wheel chair had been given a prescript for Diflucan 150 mg tab 1 time. He has had soars break out on his scrotum now for some time. It seems like I get one healed up and another one appears. His Dr said she thinks he has a yeast infection and wants him to take the diflucan along with using Miconazole as topical for one week. I would like any experience/advice in these two meds. My son is an adult and does all he can to use natural means to get/stay healthy. He does take a probiotic daily. Thanks for any help. Guest guest
Thanks Kim and Carol for you input. I am passing the info on to him. Both are considered effective antifungals, and many people do well with either or both. > > However, I ended up in the ER after swallowing my first dose of Diflucan (severe allergic reaction) and haven't been able to swallow any antifungals since, either prescription or natural. But my experience isn't too common, so just take it as a caution. Diflucan can be considered a strong antifungal, so you can expect strong die-off symptoms too. > > I didn't have a choice after that experience but to adjust my food choices to kill off the yeast. I did use our 24-hour fermented yogurt as a topical ointment to help with the skin rashes, and swished it around my mouth without swallowing it to get rid of my mouth sores and thrush. But being super careful with my foods helped tremendously. It just took time and a lot of patience. > > Yeast infections/candida overgrowths go hand in hand with digestive malfunctions. > > Your son will need to continue taking probiotics, and perhaps should increase the dose while taking Diflucan. I would treat Diflucan in the same way as taking an antibiotic -- wait two hours after the Diflucan before taking a probiotic. > > Kim M. > SCD 5+ years > > >>>>>>>>>>> > His Dr said she thinks he has a yeast infection and wants him to take the diflucan along with using Miconazole as topical for one week. > I would like any experience/advice in these two meds. > My son is an adult and does all he can to use natural means to get/stay healthy. > He does take a probiotic daily. >
