Protein bars and shake differences

There has been a lot of suggestions about which protien bar or shake tastes best. I know this is a problem for some people. I just finished reading Dr Rabin's patient guide and something mentioned there made me realize why I didn't feel comfortable with some of these protein bars with high carbs. It was written that sugars are absorbed completely. I didn't realize this. This means that even though the protein in the bar or shake will only be absorbed partly, the sugar and simple carbs will all get through.

No one need force themselves to eat somthing they can't stand or makes them gag, but just remember if it tastes like candy, it probably is.

I have been trying several different bars and shakes. My opinion is that none tastes great. But if I don't expect it to taste like candy or a soda fountain milk shake, I can accept the taste.

It can be a little disappointing when you read the flavor on the bar, then bite into it. You wonder who the jackass was that thought this tasted like that. LOL

As for what I eat. I found the EAS high protein/low carb bars and at least someof the Dr. Atkins bars tasted acceptable and didn't leave an aftertaste in my mouth. I can live with these as something to carry for a handy snack.
