Hello and welcome to the group. I am glad that

you made the choice to have this surgery. It is one

of the best things I could have ever done for myself.

I will be thinking of you on your big day and praying

that all goes well for you. Feel free to share as

much as you like here. We have a lot of veterans who

will be able to answer just about any question you

might have. Again, congrats on your choices and I

can't wait to hear about your journey. Take care.

Hi !! I am gald that there is a " here " to come to, also.

Everyone here is very supportive and above all, honest about what

happens. It si a wonderful tool to have when you need information,

to vent, or just to caht with people who can relate. I am pre-

surgery, my date is August 22nd in South San Francisco with Dr. Li.

I can't wait to be two days away!! Congratulations to you, and

welcome. Tamara

Welcome and congrats on your date ! Who is your surgeon? And

where is your surgery?

I had my surgery 6/28 at Richmond facility with Dr Baggs and he was

fantastic.

Your surgery date is on my birthday! We will have the same Birthday

now! :-)

Keep the questions coming if you have any. I was really nervous the

last few days before my surgery and the wonderful people here helped

me alot!

Sounds like you have a great support system and that will help you so

much during recovery!

Best of luck to you!

Kay

LOL, I was almost certain I was sitting next to a

. You were very friendly, it was nice having you

closeby, as I didn't bring my own support person! So,

how are you doing? I assume you have lost your ten

percent, since you are scheduled! Excited? I was soo

nervous...about the fleets junk, about getting there

and being above goal and being sent home. I guess i

worry too much. I can say that now that it's behind

me.

Let's see...what would you like to know? The nurses

on the floor aren't the best. You have to tell them

you want to get up and start walking. Don't wait for

them. They might ask you to get up the first time,

but don't count on any reminders after that. Just get

up and go. Well, before you get your catheter out,

you will have to buzz them and ask for help. After

that, it's pretty manageable alone. Oh yeah. Expect

pain. Even with the drugs. But it's only bad for the

first day. Then it's moderate, now it's mild...

Anything else? Just ask!

Laurie

Surgery was Wed.
