Guest guest
WOOHOO! Congrats Maggie and best of luck! LTLJSMOM From: Maggie Sent: Tuesday, July 12, 2005 3:41 PMTo: gastric-bypass-support-kaiser-patients Subject: I'm Home! Hi all,Well.......I'm, home! Seems impossible but I was able to tolerate the "breakfast" in the hospital today so my doctor discharged me. I have six incisions and right now I really feel good. It was a difficult night, but mainly because every two hours they would wake me up for the vitals. But I used those times to make a few laps around the floor and burped all along the way.... My overnight nurse kept telling me that I should fart...hehehe, but that was easier said than done. Anyway by morning I started to feel better, I guess the anesthetic was finally dissipating. They brought me clear broth, sugar-free jello, apple juice and herbal tea. It took me three hours to eat maybe 1/6 of everyuthing but I was fine.I remember nothing of the surgery except telling the anesthesiologist to make sure he woke me up..the recovery room was all very groggy, I slept through most of it. They had some kind of lemon swabs that they rubbed on my lips and mouth.Today since I got home I've had two sugar free popsicles...I think I'll live on those for the next three days when I start on stage two foods....I can't believe how refreshing and easy they are to eat. They gave me a big bottle of a liquid pain reliever, but I only took a dose to make the ride home easier. I don't really know if I needed it. They also gave me two big bottles of Carafate, that evil tasting stomach coater....I think I'll go back to bed now, I'm feeling tired but wanted to check in. Thank you all for you well wishes and support.Maggie
