Guest guest
I was just curious as to whether anyone else eats raw SCD.I want to be able to!!!! Or at least mostly raw. But I guess I'm part way there by just being on SCD because all foods that are legal on the raw diet are legal on SCD, and no foods that are illegal on SCD are legal on the raw diet, right? Unless maple syrup or agave could be raw... Lol as far as I know, no meats or eggs or whatnot. From the research I've done, it's just basically fruits and veggies with moderate amounts of raw nuts, and that's pretty much it. So basically you could only do it VERY FAR into the diet, when you have no more symptoms or anything. Guest guest
Thanks Alyssa, I can eat anything raw, no problem, one year and one month in -Yay!! But what about protien? I can't give up meat and I couldn't live on prociutto. Wouldn't you become very weak without protien? Nuts aren't enough, you have to mix them with beans and those are cooked. I don't get it. Guest guest
Hey Alyssa.. Depends on which school of thought within the raw food community that one subscribes to. Some of them believe in eating raw meats, eggs etc. Some take it as far as opposing putting meats in an acidilated bath like what is done with sashimi etc as the puritans feel that is " cooking " . Also some raw foodists do in fact eat certain grains. They sprout it sometimes then dehydrate it not over 114? or 118 degrees. There are some raw foodists that are super healthy but as with anything it has to be balanced and IMO most people that implement these things are not doing it in a balanced way. I would love to work up to being on SCD and raw heavy. That'll be the day. But I don't think I will ever be able to be nut or fruit heavy so there we go with that one. Guest guest
Ann, They sprout many things including grains and beans. Very healthy that is if one has a healthy gut to tolerate it. Back in the day I used to eat real " sprouted " bread (not the Ezikiel stuff) closer to what they refer to as " Essene Bread " although Mara taught me this is an incorrect term. Anyway though.. this is what it is known as in many circles. It is really delicious and sweet. But it weighed on my gut terribly. They also ferment nuts to make nut cheese. Very creative group of people. Jodi

Guest guest
Alyssa.. Maple cannot be raw. Many raw products contain Maple for the flavor but aren't truly %100 raw. Not sure about agave but agave is wildly unhealthy as many of the manufacturing processes basically mimic that of high fructose corn syrup. So sad. Guest guest
Hi Ann, Luckily?? I was already a kind of fisheterian (vegetables, fruit, dairy and fish) as a result of having trouble digesting meat dishes --maybe because of the thorough cooking required, who knows? I am not eating raw for the taste, believe me. ;-) I am eating raw because I cannot secrete enough pancreatic enzymes to process food, thin my body's mucous and keep my vitals going. So here is how I have been eating for the past month. I feel alive again, which is a real plus for me. Nuts I soak until they lose their enzyme inhibitors, then dehydrate and use for thickeners or raw *bread*, consisting of dried fruits and nuts, chopped fine and pressed together and then dehydrated. Fruits I eat fresh or sun-dried or dehydrated at home. I use raw fermented milk and aged raw cheese. I pre-digest wild-caught fish such as tuna, haddock and salmon and pre-digest them in lemon juice or vinegar. Not as tasty as those lovely nut breads I was baking on the regular SCD program. I just thought I might run across someone else who might give me pointers on sources for things or *recipes* for uncooked things. Folks on the raw food email lists are eating wheat, corn and all kinds of things that give me a lot of pain. Guest guest
Jodi, Very good advice. Until symptoms of ulcerative colitis and the like are under control, the raw regimen would not be good, I should guess. I am not a purist or health fadist. So I am open to what will keep me going to a hundred years! I was already finding a lot of good protein sources besides the meat and beans, neither of which agree with me very well at all. Eggs from a healthy free-range egg farm for an adult who has lived on a farm most of her life (me) are not so risky. They used to be prescribed to all pregnant women! Raw aged cheese has not only protein but also its original calcium, not added back in after the pasteurization. Same thing for the raw milk from a certified dairy. Aged or fermented they add the rich source of enzymes that I have to depend on. I use nuts as a substitute for grains and beans, which I do not use at all. Ann > > Hey Alyssa.. Guest guest
I agree that they are creative! But I know what you mean about the difficulty with digesting grains and beans. My body just does not have the ability, neither the sprouted or the cooked kinds. Ann > > Ann, > > They sprout many things including grains and beans.
