I know a lady whose BMI is 35 and she got approved and

just went to orientation yesterday. So, I don't think

that is a problem. Also, she only weighs 203. So you

should not have a problem at all.

I've always heard that once you are approved for the surgery, you are

approved and that's it. Your weight loss AFTER approval does not

affect your approval.

You know how Gordy has decided to not have the surgery now? He has

told us that his surgeon said that even if he looses more before

surgery, if he changes his mind and decides to have the surgery he can

still have it.

Does that make you feel better?

Yep. I was at 40 BMI when I was approved and 38 when I had the surgery. Dr. Fisher told me that I could lose more (at our first visit) because once we were approved, we couldn't really disqualify ourselves by getting our BMI too low, partly because of the likelihood of regain. I mean, obviously, if you get down to 24 BMI, that's a different story...or so I would assume!!

Hi everyone,I have a guestion regarding BMI. Kaiser considers you for surgery with a BMI of 40 or higher. At approval I was 44, after losing 5 of my 10% Dr Hahn recalculated me at 41. If I lose the other 5% I will be under 40. Do I still qualify? I suppose I should have asked him at my appt last week, I forgot cause I was just happy to be there.Jeanne
