I had my surgery at Scripps in San Diego and had no external staples. My 7 inch incision was "glued" together (surgeon's word). The incision was also left uncovered from about the 3rd day post-op. Different ways to get the same job done, I guess.

In San Diego, Dr. didn't use staples on my open incision, he

used those butterfly bandages thingies. What was yukky was the two

drains they left in me, one stayed in for a week after surgery. Not

painful, just a bother. But probably less of a bother than if all

those fluids had stayed in me instead of being drained out.

Yup, must be...lucky for us. My son just had sutures

in his thumb a few days ago. The doc said it was a

bit too jagged to glue.
