Guest guest
Hi , the question I asked earlier was kind of redundant, cause by staple line dehiscence I meant a breaking down or loosening of the staple/or possibly suture line causing leakage of stomach contents into the abdominal cavity, which would cause peritonitis. I know that a leak test is done to rule this out a day or two post op, but does anyone know how long this complication is a possibility? Thanks, Beth

I'm not 100 pct sure on these numbers, but I think that leaks CAN occur even after discharge from the hospital, but the risk goes down every day. all the best,
