Holly wrote:"My GI would like for me to supplement with Vitamin D since I tested low levels....400UI, 1000UI, 2000UI. I couldn't find any info about what that means, can anyone explain?"----------Hi Holly,Vitamin D is measured in International Units (IU). 400 IU is less potent than 2000 IU. I also have low Vitamin D levels and my doctor is having me take 5,000 IU of Vitamin D3 daily.I think that you should find out from your GI doc HOW MUCH he/she wants you to supplement, and of which type (Vitamin D2 or D3.) Also, you need to find out when the doc is planning to retest your levels following supplementation. There are a couple standard protocols in terms of vitamin D supplementation, but they depend on your current deficiency and on when and how the doc will follow your

progress. It's imperative that you get retested periodically to make sure that you are getting enough, but not too much.Best, Nina in MA

Just a head's up. TJs sells these under their TJ house brandfor less. Just the 1000 ones, however. MaraI'm using NOW Vitamin D-3 1000 IU softgels from Lucky Vitamin. They also come in 2,000 and 5,000 IU versions.Ingredients (besides the D-3):Olive Oil, gelatin, glycerin, water.
