It took a couple of days for me to go, and there was a bit of diarrhea, but I think that may have been from the anesthesia. After that, I have a bowel movement every two or three days. At one point, it was more than a week and it didn't want to come out...and it hurt. I had to take stool softeners. That is probably more of an issue for women, because we have to take the supplemental iron, and that causes constipation.

Now, it's pretty normal. Every couple of days (because I don't eat enough for it to be more often.)

Keep in mind that you are eating very soft foods...when you graduate to less soft foods, like meat...that will probably change for you.

I'm post sugery by four days and once my system began working, have had two days of diarrhea. Dr. Hahn was not concerned (it reflects that there are no bowel obstructions). Ok, but I would appreciate hearing from anyone experiencing this soon after surgery. What did you experience? How long did it last? What, if anything, caused it to stop? Thanks.Bill

I had diarrhea (or loose stools) until I was put on Stage III food at

2 weeks out. Your not eating much so once you start adding more solid

foods, you shouldn't have any problems.

Bill, do you have FREQUENT loose stools, or is it just

that when you do stool it is loose? I wouldn't worry

if they are infrequent. I had that also. Believe me,

right now I'd rather have them loose than hard. LOL
