Guest guest
I know you are supposed to start lower and and move up to 4.5 by .5 at a time. How quickly should you do this? My doc started me on 1.5, and says he likes to stay at the lower doses, so I will have to ask him about this. I feel lucky just to get my hands on this stuff, considering where I live, but I will need to discuss the higher dose with him. I have it in cream form so I can progress as needed. Guest guest
Not necessarily. I started at 4.5 and I did fine with it. I think the people who increase by .5 are like the MS people ad maybe the thyroid and lyme people who have problems with various pain issues and have to make sure that the LDN is not pushing the pain symptoms - not the gut people. So as far as I know, you can increase up to 3.0 next. Why does your doc like to start low? What kind of a doc is he? Guest guest
Thank you very much for the info everyone! I'm in the 100-105 pound range, so I think I'll see if I can get the 4.5 dose. I don't see my GI until November though :-(. My surgeon thinks I'll be able to stop Humira after my resection, so hopefully my GI will think so as well. Guest guest
Hi Holly, If you get the LDN cream (Coastal Compounding calls it gel), then it comes in pre-filled syringes (no needle!) that is measured out on your inner wrist (or other area that has very little hair) which then gets rubbed into the skin. This is what I use. This way you can control how much you use, especially if you experience side effects. I started out at 1.5mg/dose for a week because I was getting a mild headache when I first started using LDN. I worked my way up to 3mg/dose. I only weigh 100 pounds (I gained 5!!) and am a little sensitive to meds, so 3mg works for me. If you opt for LDN capsules you have to choose a filler (Avicel, which is microcrystalline cellulose; or acidophilus are both legal fillers). If you use LDN capsules then you may want to have them filled as 1.5mg doses for your 1st month’s script. That way if 4.5mg dose (3 capsules of 1.5 mg) causes side effects then you can take fewer capsules and work your way up to the maximum 4.5mg dose. You are borderline weight for 4.5mg so you’ll have to see if that is the optimal amount for you. Some people have no trouble starting at 4.5mg so, as with everything else, dosage is an individual thing! You will have to stop the Humira if you do LDN as Humira is an immunosuppressant which will negate the LDN. Immunosuppressants are contraindicated for LDN, that is, they cannot be used with LDN. I hope your resection goes well! Carol CD 21 yrs SCD 5 yrs From: BTVC-SCD [mailto:BTVC-SCD ] On Behalf Of spookyhurst Thank you very much for the info everyone! Guest guest
Thanks a lot Carol! I think the cream/gel is the way I want to go. I like the idea of being able to start out small and work my way up to the optimal dose.
