Guest guest
Hi Kay, I'm doing so well I'm amazed. When Dr. Baggs called me today I told him he was a magician! I came home yesterday afternoon and we walked around the block last night. I have (had) high blood pressure, I was taking 4 different pills a day to control it. He told me buy a blood pressure cuff and check it in the morning before I take my pills and to cut out two of them if it's below a certain number. Well, it ran high in the hospital and they stuck all these patches on me so I just took my regular dosage today because we bought two different cuffs and neither gave a good reading so we were going to get a new one today. When I got to Target to return the second one I took my pressure there and it was 114/56. I've never had such a low pressure. So we went to Costco and bought the third, which as usual, was the " charm " . It will be interesting to see how quickly these pills will be eliminated. That was part of the goal, to get off the pills, including one for high cholesterol that he already took me off of. To be able to walk without pain, to go up and down the stairs without the old knees hurting and with it all the bonus of looking damed good! Dr. Baggs sais I could eat as many popsicles as I wanted as long as they're sugar free. They're just great. These are Nestles sugar free fruit pops. I bought three month's supply of Bariatric advantage vitamins. I just chewed my first multi, not bad tasting. I got the tropical, 2 a day. When was your surgery? Where? Guest guest
Hi Maggie! Isn't it just amazing HOW good you feel so soon after surgery?? I keep thinking the surgery was further out than it really was. It can't have been just two weeks ago? I also have (had) high blood pressure and diabetes (just for fun, lol). Since I have been home I haven't had to take either medication! YAY! In the hospital, they put those patches on me as well for blood pressure and they kept sticking me with insulin as well even though I wasn't on that at home. I took my blood sugar last night and it was the lowest I have ever seen it. 106! When I went on my diabetes medicine my number was 284!!! The dr was shocked I was still walking around. The blood pressure, highest reading ever was 154/102. Last night it was 116/69. I couldn't believe it! Which blood pressure monitor did you get? I have the automatic inflatable one that is by Armitron? It works great. I actually had it already since I was having to monitor my blood pressure at home anyway. Isn't it fabulous to not have to take as many meds? Just wait a few more weeks I am sure you will be off all meds, and you are going to be amazed with how much you can do. I crossed my legs for the first time in 5 years (???) a couple of days ago! The little milestones are going to start piling up! Before we know it, our former body lives will be a distant memory! I just tried on and bought my first set of clothes another size smaller. I am officially out of the 3x size! YAY! Down to a 22/24 in pants. That is from a 28-30. Whew! OH I had surgery 6/28 and have lost 20 lbs as of yesterday. Dr Baggs was my surgeon as well!!! Isn't he just THE best?? So attentive and nice? Did he take pictures of your surgery? He was really proud of the pictures he took of mine. I finally looked at them. I don't like blood and guts so it took me a long time to get used to the idea of looking at them. Pretty amazing. I have my follow up with him on the 21st. I will bring the pictures with me then and lots of questions! lol It sure sounds like you are doing really well! Keep up the good work! This is the most exciting part of the journey, feeling better every day! Guest guest
Hi Kay, My monitor is Omron automatic. I took it this morning and it's 133/72 which means I still have to take all 4 pills. When the top# is under 120 I get to cut two out. However, this is really amazing for it to be so low before meds, I can see then end of the tunnel. I just had my breakfast.... 2ozs of sugar free jello, and it takes a while to eat it. The popsicles are much easier I've lost 6lbs since surgery - in three days! including all that they infused into me! I still have two patches on me, I forgot to ask Dr. Baggs when I can take them off... I love shoes and have so many in my closet that didn't fit. I had to start buying them in XXwide becasue my feet were always so swollen. Well I put a pair of sandals on yesterday that I bought a year agao that didn't fit and I was too lazy to return and wow, they fit and were very comfortable... this is getting exciting!! I went to the Richmond support group last night and it was really a good meeting. I got to meet Miss Pam and Miss Miriam...so good to put a face to the name. They are both sweet and pretty. I don't think there were other people from the listserv but I could be wrong and disappointed that I didn't realize it. I better start on these vitamins, oy is this difficult! Trying to figure out the schedule of taking everything. I'm glad I don't have to figure in the meals yet...until tomorrow anyway (stage two). I know a couple in Florida that are both successful WLS patients and she told me that she sips water all day long with the exception of 1/2 hour after meals. It's so much easier than waiting every 15 minutes to get an ounce, I have to talk to someone about that. Anyway, it's nice chatting with you and everyone else, Best, Maggie - In gastric-bypass-support-kaiser- patients , " specialkmix2000 " wrote: > Hi Maggie! > Isn't it just amazing HOW good you feel so soon after surgery?? Guest guest
Hi Colleen! Oh that has to be exciting! Yay for you!!! size Large?? I haven't seen a size large in 25 years! Or size 16!!! That must have felt fantastic leaving the store with those new clothes. I hear you on the Sears thing. I think that is left over from HAVING to shop there when I was a kid. That and Montgomery Wards. Remember that place? I have a few girlfriends that only shop " normal size " stores and I can't wait to finally be included in their shopping trips! I can't wait to say bye bye to LB forever! So how far out are you from surgery now? Are you close to goal? I have noticed already there are huge veins popping out on the back of my knees. Ew. Did you have anything like that happen? Kay > > > > Hi all, > > > > Well they sent me home with a big bottle of liquid pain > > > medicine...only > > > > I just don't have any pain. Is this unusual? Guest guest
Colleen, I am going to be 37 on Tuesday. So we are about the same era. I used to be a hairstylist though so I spent 10 years on my feet, so I wonder if that has something to do with it. That is good to know Sears carries Liz now. lol I am sure it is less there than at Macy's. I do have a Liz outlet up in Napa though, so I will have to start shopping there now that I am finally into her sizes. That was the scariest thing when I was at my heaviest I couldn't even shop the stores like LB. Have a good day!
