Hi Heidi, I was off all meds for 5 years before starting LDN –

once I found the SCD (5 yrs ago) I weaned off of prednisone and just stopped

taking the 16 pills/day of Pentasa (which didn’t help me anyway). Others

here will have different stories. You do not have to be off meds, with the

exception of immune-suppressants like Humira or Remicade in order to be on LDN.

Since LDN is an immune-modulator, you do not want to be taking an immune-suppressant

with it. Also opiate pain medicines do not work with LDN. And I read at the LDN

Yahoo Health Group postings, no more than 10 mg prednisone while on LDN. Here

is a link to contraindicated meds with LDN: http://www.webspawner.com/users/avoidthesedrugsonldn/index.html

This group has been helpful http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/lowdosenaltrexone/

And of course the LDN homepage www.LowDoseNaltrexone.org

Hope this helps. I do hope the doc will prescribe LDN for your

husband. You will see clinical trials from Penn State on LDN for Crohn’s

at the LDN site. Perhaps you could get that info to your doc. I myself had to

find a new doc (which I am glad I did – he is actually a good doctor!) to

prescribe LDN.

Hi Carol-

Were you on any meds before you started LDN and if you were, did you just

stop those and start LDN? My husband with CD has a colonoscopy

scheduled in October and we have talked to his GI about starting LDN. He

has said we could discuss it after we see the results of the

colonoscopy and I just want to have my information straight. Thank you,

Heidi
