Guest guest
Hi Carol- Were you on any meds before you started LDN and if you were, did you just stop those and start LDN? My husband with CD has a colonoscopy scheduled in October and we have talked to his GI about starting LDN. He has said we could discuss it after we see the results of the colonoscopy and I just want to have my information straight. It is reported to take up to 3-4 months for some people to notice a positive difference. I noticed it right away. I also had a slight headache for about the first 2 weeks of starting. They were very slight. Also would wake up once or twice a night, and be able to fall back to sleep easily. Sleep is more restful. And I have more energy. Last night I did not sleep very well. Otherwise, I've felt fine. How long does it take before you start to notice a difference- or is it gradual? Thanks,PJ Get back to school stuff for them and cashback for you. Try Bing now. Guest guest
Hi Heidi, I was off all meds for 5 years before starting LDN – once I found the SCD (5 yrs ago) I weaned off of prednisone and just stopped taking the 16 pills/day of Pentasa (which didn’t help me anyway). Others here will have different stories. You do not have to be off meds, with the exception of immune-suppressants like Humira or Remicade in order to be on LDN. Since LDN is an immune-modulator, you do not want to be taking an immune-suppressant with it. Also opiate pain medicines do not work with LDN. And I read at the LDN Yahoo Health Group postings, no more than 10 mg prednisone while on LDN. Here is a link to contraindicated meds with LDN: http://www.webspawner.com/users/avoidthesedrugsonldn/index.html This group has been helpful http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/lowdosenaltrexone/ And of course the LDN homepage www.LowDoseNaltrexone.org Hope this helps. I do hope the doc will prescribe LDN for your husband. You will see clinical trials from Penn State on LDN for Crohn’s at the LDN site. Perhaps you could get that info to your doc. I myself had to find a new doc (which I am glad I did – he is actually a good doctor!) to prescribe LDN. Guest guest
During the first week, first few days, I noticed positivechanges. A certain lower gut sensitivity - very low levelpain, but something I was aware of and had hadfor quite some time, just entirely vanished within days. And in fact, that's the kind of thing LDN does really well - reduce or get rid of low level pains in the body - that'swhat endorphins help with, which is why the new wisdom forwomen is to exercise through their periods instead ofrefraining, because endorphins help to mitigate cramps. But I also started on 4.5 - and from what you said earlier, you thought you would move up slowly to4.5 - so that may be one reason you have notyet felt positive changes. I didn't have a change in sleeping initially AFAIR, but I may possibly be waking up consistently earlier thanI used to - or that might be a summer light thingy - I'll have to wait and see what happens with the changeof seasons.MaraI felt good right away on LDN. Guest guest
My doc wanted me to start on 1.5, and he said he'd advance according to how I felt. I'm OK with that as I like to start low and build up. Judging from the headaches, it's a good idea. I feel pretty good though, so I'm hopeful. PJ > > > > > > > I felt good right away on LDN.
