Jodie,

I was on the tail end of my period when I had my surgery. I didnt end up having another period well over a month later. The surgery didnt effect mine and make it any longer or make me have another one sooner. I was expecting another one right away, but obviously we all are different and our bodies react differently. So dont worry. Congrats on the weight loss!!!

Jodie W: I had my period the week before my surgery and didn't experience a

repeat until it was due the following month. :) I also heard that one's

period can begin, either immediately after surgery or within the first few

weeks post-op, regardless of when it was due. However, I didn't have that

experience.

Perhaps your period will come at it's 'regularly scheduled time'.... if it

still doesn't appear then, you may feel better about seeing your ob/gyn, but

I'd wait another month... I've skipped periods before or had extended ones

(mine really never was regular and quite extended).

So, I wouldn't worry --- your body could very well be right where it should

be! :)

Jodi, the surgery had no impact on my cycle, but I am on birth

control pills which regulates me pretty well. My period came when it

was supposed to, which was about three weeks post-op. I would guess

that the loss of an ovary may affect your cycle, particularly if it

was due to ovulate next, you may get to skip a cycle (which to

my " done with childbearing " mind is a good thing!)

Neither Joy nor I did. Of course I haven't been having periods lately and Joy has had a hysterectomy so maybe we don't qualify.

I think every man should have to go through childbirth at least once in his

life! Imagine how the world would change.
