Hi, everyone! I just got off the phone with Jill. She's already been around

the

corridor at least 2-3 times already! Her family is taking really good care

of her. :)

She sounds great - a little tired and out of it (due to the morphine pump,

although she said she really isn't using it much) and she wants ice chips

BADLY. She had her leak test done this a.m. but hasn't gotten the results

yet. Her mouth is really dry and she's been using swabs (I also suggested a

damp washcloth - this really helped me). Hopefully she'll have word soon and

be able to suck away on the chips.

Dr. Gagner left for vacation, but Dr. Quinn will be reading the leak test

results, etc. and hopefully Jill will hear later today. She hasn't yet seen

any of the surgeons on their rounds so hopefully she will today as well

(probably Dr. Pomp and/or Dr. Quinn).

The surgery took about an hour longer than planned because the stapler BROKE

mid-surgery! Oh my God! They stapled half and then had to sew up the rest,

so it took longer. She wasn't able to get her gallbladder removed (she had

stones) because of this unexpected complication, but Dr. Gagner mentioned

that he'd take it out within 6-8 months or so and it will be a quick surgery,

especially compared to the DS.

I'm so glad our friend Jill is now with us on the 'other side' and doing

well! :) She's a real trooper. Here's her number (I forgot to ask if she

wanted calls, but she sounds great and I don't think she'd mind if they are

kept short and sweet! :)) . One thing to remember is the phone

lines are shut down to incoming calls at 9:00 p.m.! :) That's her direct

line. Her last name is Kalish if anyone is planning on visiting (sorry, I

didn't get her room number, but I'm pretty sure she's on 10E).

All the best,
