Guest guest
Anytime I had that problem when I was living at home with my folks, they would always make me drink lots of water and cranberry juice.... usually within 2 days, it would clear up.... Guest guest
Have you thought of the cranberry extract for Kirkman Labs. It's a chewable and 1 tablet is equal to a lot of cranberry juice. Good Luck, Ann in Memphis
Guest guest
Dear Debbie, I just read your question about UTI s and back pain. The back pain REALLY NEEDS looking into. My daughter had several uti's and then 2 kidney infections. She was hospitalized for 4 days and came home wiht a 10 day course of 3 different IV antibiotics because it had spread to her kidneys. I don't want to scare you uneccesarily but if I can prevent someone else going through that then maybe its worth it. By the way when you tell the dr about the back pain also mention the possibility of infection. If you don't give them all the facts at one time the only treat the symptons. If you have any other questions please e-mail me privately. I did a lot of research on this at the time. Good luck in Ohio
Guest guest
Research has demonstrated cranberry's ability to fight E Coli, the bacteria involved in urinary tract infections. The proanthocyanidins found in cranberry can interfere with the bacteria which cause 80 to 90 percent of urinary tract infections, possibly by preventing them from adhering to bladder cells according to research conducted by Rutgers University. In yet another study, released earlier this year at the annual Experimental Biology meeting, it was shown that cranberry had the ability to prevent the development of tumors in mice injected with human breast cancer cells. The study was conducted at the University of Western Ontario. Try to have at least 2-3 quarts of fluid per day, preferably water and having a glass of cranberry juice will also help with the UTI's. There are also tablets that you can get that have the cranberry component to them if you do not like the taste of the juice. Terrific for avoiding an infection before it starts. I hope things improve for you! Warm Regards, Melbourne, Australia LG/DS 7-19-00 Dr Welker, Portland, Oregon Self-pay

Guest guest
well that reply sucked! Hi Renae! Drink lotsa fluids. our tummy's don't hold as much so it's imperative to drive (sip) between meals. You can dehydrate very quickly and the urinary tract infections are an indication of that. I hope all is well with you otherwise! over 120 pounds gone since 8-11-00 Dr. Hares, Michigan

Guest guest
Ranae, Drinking lots of fluids is extremely important, usually cranberry juice is recommended. There is one thing about UI's that came up in a support meeting that I attended. This woman said that she had suffered from chronic UI's before her BPD/DS. When she got one after the switch the usual medication did nothing. Her infections just got worse. She did some checking and found the medicine she was usually given was absorbed in the deuodenum. So no wonder it didn't work. Her doctor gave her something else and the infection cleared right up. Maybe you and your friend should check if the medication you are getting is the same, absorbed in the deuodenum. Rita Black10/17/2000 First Consult. Dr.MacuraOpen BPD/DS 4/23/20014/23/01 - 400lbs.
