Guest guest
Hey ! Welcome to the group! I usually am here lurking around and comment every now and then... I have found this group of wonderful people so inspiring...and uplifitng. I'm sure you will find it the same. I was approved last June for the surgery and just had my orientation on August 2. Where my official weigh in is 445. So I'm right up there with ya. I'm now following their 1200-calorie a day plan and have done pretty well so far. I can see this getting boring really fast though...but I am really committed and have some great accountability partners keeping me on the straight and narrow. What town are you in? And do you know which Kaiser Bariatric program you'll go through? Wishing you the best, > I have not really intoduced myself, I am , I weigh 470 punds, I > lost about 30 pounds since the beginning of the year. I am awating the > decision of the committee this week. Guest guest
I just got pass the comittee yesterday, and I am waiting to get an appointment with the surgeon. How long after that can I expect surgery? > > I live in portland, and I go to sunnyside for my program. I just > > made it through the comittee > > > > > > Hi ! I am a Kaiser Sunnyside WLS patient. Guest guest
, I am not really sure how the process is up there in Portland but you don't get to see the surgeon right away around here. There are a series of other apts. that you must attend before you get to see the surgeon. For Richmond, here is the process: Approval and then shortly you will have orientation. During orientation, you will meet on of the surgeons who explains the surgery, answer questions, give you a binder with a lot of stuff in it and weigh you. The next apt. (usualy about 3-4 weeks out) you will see the nutritionist who will explain the post op eating in more detail and work with you on any issues you might be having losing your 10% (which is required by Richmond but not so mandatory for the SF or Fremont facilities). They discuss what happens if you don't follow the rules of the pouch, etc. The next apt will be about 3-4 weeks out and this usually is your surgeon apt. (If you are not at goal weight, then you will see the surgeon again before any of the below listed apts. will be scheduled) provided you are at 10% goal. If you are goal when you see the surgeon, they will send you down to get you EKG done and then over to get your date for surgery. Once you have that date, usually the go ahead and schedule your post op class apt., your 15 minute physical exam apt. (which just talks about your health issues at hand, etc and they discuss your lab work). The last apt. you will have is the anestesiologist apt. which is about 15 minutes. Usually the physical exam apt. and the anestesiologist apt. are back to back. Then that is it. I am not sure what SF does or Fremont. Maybe someone will chime in and assist. --- vrcat50@...> wrote: > I just got pass the comittee yesterday, and I am > waiting to get an > appointment with the surgeon. Guest guest
Hi, everyone. Because my husband has this colon cancer and chemo/radiation coming up, he thinks he cannot get health insurance because no company would take him as a client or customer. His relatives have offered to buy some health insurance for me, but I am totally ignorant of this subject. I have been looking online for something for myself, but it seems so complicated. How would I know which policy would be good for me? Someone told my husband that I should get " major medical " for myself in case I need hospitalization in the future. Nate, if you are reading this, what is temp insurance? I never heard of that before. Can you point me in the right direction? Hope your doctor appointment shows no signs of cancer. Thank you, everyone. ~Deb from Kansas
