Guest guest
: A very good question. I think that lots could be said for both sides. But I would tend to go to the surgeon in whom I had the most confidence. Longer term complications usually don't involve things that any competent abdominal surgeon can't handle. Immediate post op problems often do but that should be addressed before you leave town after surgery. My decision would be to go with a surgeon I trust wherever they might happen to be. It has been my experience that trust in your surgeon is perhaps the most important factor in this surgery. But there are good arguments to be made for going with someone you live near. So while that's my opinion you need to decide what's right for you. Regards. Guest guest
- I had surgery in Portland, OR and live in Australia and recuperated with family in Ohio. I have not for one minute felt that it was a problem--my surgeon is available via email and my general practitioner here is helping me with blood work, etc. I feel the most important thing is trust and confidence in your surgeon of choice--geography was always a secondary consideration for me. Best of luck! Warm Regards, Melbourne, Australia LG/DS 7-19-00 Dr Welker, Portland, Oregon Self-pay
