They are awfully expensive. Insurance covered mine. From the doctor the equipment is way expensive. I found out later that the machine that cost over $2000 from the doctor can be purchased online for about a 1/4 of that amount. The doctor gives you a prescription and you send a copy to someplace like cpap.com. You would need to talk to your insurance company to find out if they would cover it, and how to handle the details. You'd think they would be happy to work with you and save a bunch of money, but you never know with bureaucrats. Tom

They are awfully expensive. Depends on the insurance coverage you have. Mine was covered, 100%, not even a co-pay. Others have to pay a 20-30% co-pay. If you have to pay for it yourself, go to CPAP.COM. Quality service, excellent prices, helpful people -- Lord knows, I've ordered enough auxiliary stuff from them in the last ten months! Be WARNED! DMEs, like many other medical situations, will screw you over, giving you the cheapest machine they can. You absolutely MUST have a fully data capable machine, especially given your multiple complications in health. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

Guest guest
Thanks Tom and Marilyn, I am finding this all terribly overwhelming but relieved if this is the problem. Some days I feel debilitated which can also be the Lyme. I never feel well rested.. The other night I felt I was choking and just barely was able to get a glass of water. I thought all these years I have anxiety from bad dreams. Never thought to mention it. Jodi

I dealt with the hip pain for over seven years, and every time I mentioned it to my now-ex PCP, he'd say, " Well, what do you expect? Of course your joints hurt! You're fat! Lose some weight, and it will all clear up.... " But the pain management doc I went to when the pain from my surgery incision did not clear up when it should, sent me for the sleep study. And, most of my hip pain has cleared up. Not to mention the getting up every 2-3 hours to go pee. It's daunting. But dealable, once you research it. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
