Guest guest
Hi everyone, I need some advice from post-oppers. My 29 year-old nephew (who by the way was the one who convinced me to look into surgery to begin with--said I deserved to do this for myself as he'd watched me struggle with my weight issues as long as he could remember) will not be able to be here from Canada for my surgery as he has to fly to Florida on the 27th the day of surgery. He has a business obligation and has to fly to South America on August 2nd. He found out, however, that he could catch a reasonable flight on the 28th and come to Sacramento but would have to leave on the 31st. So my question is this--since I don't know when I'll get out of the hospital and don't know how I'll be feeling, should I have him spend the money to come, in which case we won't see him again until January or should I have him wait and come for a week or two in October when I should be fully ready to enjoy his company? Our plan always was that he would be here for the surgery but then a business obligation took him to Buenos Aires for five months and now he has to go back. He's perfectly willing to spend the money and I'd love for him to be here but I'm not so sure it would be fair to him to spend money for four days and me not knowing when I'll be home. He's willing to stay with my daughter until I get out of the hospital and of course visit me, but we have made other arrangements for my daughter so it's not like he needs to be here. Both of them say it's up to me. I would love to have him here, but we usually have such a good time doing things together, I'm leaning towards the time in October. What do you all think? What would you do? Would it be totally unfair and selfish since I won't be feeling in peak form while he's here? Mind you he's not coming to be entertained, but I still think it's kind of selfish on my part to want him to come that far for just four days. Just don't know what to do!!!
